Have a great day everyone and I'll try to get by to see you today Stats.
Jimssm 9/12/2012 6:57:07 AM Report@Grace...
I am not sure who you expect Obama to 'take military action' against.
These were out of control protesters and the gov't of Libya (now friendly to the USA) has condemned the attack.
I expect any action to be taken 'quietly', if you get my drift. That seems his way.
Grump 9/12/2012 7:00:08 AM ReportGrace I didn't see that artical on the yahoo site but there is an article about Bush being told of the 9/11 attack as early as May 1st that year. Good Lord what incompetence. Well the neo-con excuse makers will have to consult with Rush on this one. That report has been published and I haven't heard of any denials or law suits as yet. LMAO

Fibbing With GM Job Creation Statistics, Bill Clinton Edition
From Bill Clinton‘s Democratic National Convention speech, September 5, 2012
“Now there are 250,000 more people working in the auto industry than the day the companies were restructured. Governor Romney opposed the plan to save GM and Chrysler. So here’s another jobs score: Obama two hundred and fifty thousand, Romney, zero.” Wild applause.
Clinton attributes the 250,000 new jobs created to domestic and foreign auto manufacturers, parts suppliers, and dealers located in the United States to the Obama-directed bankruptcy of General Motors. Without the President’s bold and decisive action, these quarter million new jobs would not exist, and U.S. manufacturing would not have been “saved.”
Clinton gets his figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which shows that U.S. auto manufacturers (both domestic and foreign owned) employed 624,400 at the time of the bankruptcy (June 2009) and now employ 789,500 — an increase of 165,100 jobs. Auto dealers employed 1,009,700 in June 2009 and 1,081,200 today — a gain of 71,500 jobs. The two gains add up to 236,600 jobs (Clinton’s 250,000).
Sorry, President Clinton. There is no way you can you attribute the 236,600 job gain to the General Motors bailout. According to the carmaker’s annual report, GM North America employed 70,000 in the United States in June of 2009 (the rest were in Canada and Mexico) and 74,500 today, for a net gain of 4,500 jobs. Of the auto manufacturing job increases, GM accounts for only two percent.
Posters note: I did not recite this from memory, yes I GOOGLED it, copied and pasted it...the things I do for the good of my ill-informed leftist "friends".

Grace 9/12/2012 9:24:45 AM ReportRLE..that's your come back?? Just about as good as the One's responce to Lybia!
..WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama has condemned attacks that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three American members of his staff.
In a statement, Obama said he had ordered "all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe."
The attacks occurred Tuesday night in the eastern city of Benghazi by protesters angry over a film that ridiculed Islam's Prophet Muhammad, according to Libya officials. Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed when he and a group of embassy employees went to the consulate to try to evacuate staff as the building came under attack by a mob guns and rocket propelled grenades.
Obama said: "I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi." The four Americans "exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe," he said.

Those ramblings from the right that you're reading - no alliteration intended, it's a natural gift - are just a death rattle.
They are the neo-con equivalent of one last gasp before the inevitable Obama victory.
Then we'll be treated to a few months of how dumb Americans are for re-electing a guy who isn't perfect but puts the common good ahead of the corporate good.
There will be more silly labels, more Goggle cut and paste and then they'll go back into their caves to plot a new plan to allow the enlightened few to rule the many.
Just like gall stone attacks or an in-law visit. This too shall pass.

I was correct, RLE has an oral affliction.
T-rat 9/12/2012 11:12:13 AM ReportWow Grace. Your sensitivity and compassion toward the tragic and senseless death of the American ambassador to Libya and three of his staff is just too much. You're more concerned that Obama's response wasn't more Romney-esque....or Bush-ish,like maybe an all-out, nuclear, retaliatory attack. Perhaps you should be more concerned that the tragedy is the result of a hate-inspired movie made by an admitted Israeli-American Jew. And just what has his $5 million movie accomplished except to instil even more hatred, hostility and intolerance?
Take off the blinders Gracie. You too Right Wing. You just might get a glimpse of reality!

Brianne 9/12/2012 11:31:51 AM ReportQUestion for someone who knows the legalities of billing for services.
A relatively new neighbour has been trying to get to the bottom of her puc bill. It shows the amount billed, but when she makes payment only a portion of it goes to the bill...... apparently, after attending at their office with her, they stated that a portion of the bill goes toward a deposit required ( I think they said $350 deposit) Now here's the question: should the portion of the deposit not be stated on the bill......... they are billing say $60 a month for usage and that's all it states, so she pays $60 and only part of it, less than half goes towards the usage, thus putting her behind in payments. How can they charge for something that is not listed on the bill as an expense that is required to pay?
WHen talking to the person at the payment counter, she couldn't even explain it, and said," I don't know what they do upstairs" all the while rolling her eyes.
theprotector 9/12/2012 11:43:16 AM Reportthey would have advised her that a downpayment was required when she opened the account, if she cannot afford the downpayment (security) then they would inform her that a portion of the bill will be applied to the security or outstanding previous balance.
Pink Peony 9/12/2012 11:46:00 AM ReportBrianne, all I can say is speak to a supervisor. I called because my water/sewage charges were much higher due to their instructions to "run the water", "flush the toilet more" during the stinky and brown water time. I wanted a credit. I was getting nowhere with the person that answers the phone and told them I wanted to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor was reasonable enough and she did give me a credit, not a complete credit, but a credit none-the-less.
Pink Peony 9/12/2012 11:53:55 AM ReportSorry Brianne, didn't read it clearly. (I get a little up in arms when it comes to the PUC, lol) I think it should be clear on the bills about all charges and where her payments are going to.

learningaswego 9/12/2012 11:58:30 AM ReportWell OF COURSE Obie Hope and Changey will get elected.
The USA is so far down the crapper now, that more voters are receivers of taxpayer largesse, than are contributors.
This is exactly the situation that the socialist-leftist elites hope for, because they just have to promise the receivers of taxpayer largesse that they will give them even more. We saw several of the geniuses that vote for Obie on tv the other day, saying - with complete seriousness, that corporate profits should be against the law.
Poor friggin' America.
Grace 9/12/2012 11:59:08 AM ReportT Rat ..not even close. Just curious have you seen this hate ridden movie or just going with the flow?
Always Bush was critisized for his reaction on 911 to a crisis of biblical proportions...unimaginable by anyone in the civilized world.
I just want to compare how the One eacts when an attack of a foriegn nation on an American embacy killing the ambasador and his staff. An attack was an attack! Over a freakin movie that not one person in the crowd of attackers has even seen? Don't sugar coat it!
Grace 9/12/2012 12:01:35 PM ReportThat's right I said BIBLICAL!!
Brianne 9/12/2012 12:02:13 PM ReportYes, "the protector" they did inform her that however the point i'm trying to make is.......... the deposit portion is NOT listed on the bill. DO they have a legal right to charge the deposit if it is NOT listed on the bill...
Grump 9/12/2012 12:08:12 PM ReportGrace I realy feel bad for you. I thought you were bright enough to not drink any more of that kool-aid
Pink Peony 9/12/2012 12:10:03 PM ReportBrianne, has she received a second bill yet? If so, and it doesn't state that a certain amount was put towards her deposit and what the balance of her deposit owing is...then, in my opinion, that's wrong. Do they legally have to do it that way? I don't know but it's something I would speak to a supervisor about.
Grace 9/12/2012 12:15:29 PM ReportGrump good one! lol
All in good sport!
Grump 9/12/2012 12:19:33 PM ReportGrace You have to know that these folks are about four blocks father out in right field than any of the most extreme Tea Party members. The have been taught that killing someone for insulting Islam or Mohamed (real or percieved) is their honour bound duty. So far they have almost completely over run Europe and I fail to understand why in the hell we keep letting them in here.
Grace 9/12/2012 12:23:44 PM ReportSpeaking at an impromptu press conference in Jacksonville, Fla., on Wednesday, Mitt Romney condemned Tuesday's attacks as "disgusting" and "outrageous," but he also attacked the Obama administration for standing by a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo that he claimed was an "apology" for American values.
Late Tuesday, Romney issued a statement saying it was "disgraceful that the Obama administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks." On Wednesday, he stood by his criticism of the White House.
"It's a terrible course for America to stand in apology for our values," Romney told reporters. "It's never too early for the U.S. government to condemn attacks on Americans and defend our values. ... When our grounds are being attacked, being breached, the first response of the United States must be outrage."
Grace 9/12/2012 12:26:18 PM ReportIn response to the attack, the United States is "deploying elite Marine counterterrorism teams to Libya," Foreign Policy reports. "The Pentagon is sending Fleet Anti-Terrorism Teams, known as FAST teams, a U.S. defense official has confirmed."
So the One has a little Bush in him after all!
Okay is this the righ or wrong thing to do?
Brianne 9/12/2012 12:29:08 PM ReportYes Pink, she's had several bills ( 5/6 not sure) and on no where on any of those bills does it show money going towards a deposit.
Say she was billed $60, she paid $60, has a receipt for $60, but the next bill shows only $25 actually put towards the usage, and no where does it state that any money went to a "deposit" nor does it show any information of there being a deposit and how much is left owing on the deposit.
I really don't think they can charge you for something that they haven't put in writing as being owing on that bill.
I'm going to call there and see what they say.
flyhawk25 9/12/2012 12:30:44 PM ReportSo the silly people are finally admitting that Romney is in trouble because - get this - the average American is an idiot.
So their theory is that these folks will get what they deserve and not the 'enlightened view of the right'.
You know who that is - Rush, Hannity and all of the candidates in the GOP clown car.
Incredible.
And to add to the insanity some are even being critical of this President's response to the embassy attack in Libya.
Wait a few weeks and they'll blame him for the next weather event.
I don't know if I missed it but has anyone heard from the last Republican president lately?
How about the last Democratic one?

debo 9/12/2012 12:48:07 PM ReportI see from another news source that the family of Matt Howard is continuing their struggle to get the justice they seek and deserve. Unfortunately, they are unlikely to succeed, as the process seems to be heavily tilted in favour of protecting police officials and absolving them of any responsibility.

Even when the Republicans speak the truth, they speak with forked tongue. At the Republican Convention, McCain said that Obama wants to cut $500 B from Defense. What he didn't say was that the $500 B was what the Republicans imposed, in their form of extortion, to raise the debt ceiling. So was it Obama or the Republicans, that wants to cut defense spending? If it was the Republicans, then why are they now talking of increasing defense spending?

They're getting wild-eyed and frothy-mouthed. They witnessed the same thing we all did; Clinton's speech at the DNC and Clint's speech at the RNC. Two different leagues of ability to speak to the issues.
They are also aware that Dubya, Cheney, Rumsfeld McCain, Sarah and the rest of their band of merry-makers were conspicuously absent for the GOP show. Word is, they are all in the witness protection program. Too embarrassing to showcase their past. And ultimately, the ONE is gonna be around for another 4 years.
Grump 9/12/2012 5:03:03 PM ReportWell you folks can demean Obama by comparing him to the great G.W. who doesn't seem to be showing his face. When I was in the military I worked in a somewhat similar capacity to the types that Obama is about to send over (actually they were probably already there)
"Shock and Awe" as used by Bush was strictly for domestic consumption. The precision surgery used by Obama is much more effective it just isn't as satisfying for the neo-con military types. It also doesn't generate the same revenue for the military suppliers.

He said that for the most part Westeners were not able to cope with with many of the third world types that required attention. He went on to say that it was a damn good thing that the Brits and the French had troups that could as they were trained to handle it.

BIG BROTHER 9/12/2012 7:17:55 PM ReportMallet,
You should have started your 'should haves' with Dubya. Iraq was not loaded up with WMD, nor were they loaded up with terrorists. Taking out Saddam left a huge vacuum for whoever the next flavour of dictator wanted to step in.
Meanwhile, trillions of dollars later and thousands of lives, including American soldiers, lost because Dubya couldn't figure out where Afghanistan was; or Saudi Arabia for that matter.
Grump 9/12/2012 7:20:23 PM ReportShaky I was just about to post "where is Status when you need him" and then it dawned on me that rw is a whipped pup and adding Status would be overkill and certainly un-sportsmanlike. In the meantine please carry on LMAO
right wing 9/12/2012 7:20:46 PM ReportI found some accomplishments that Obama can actually take credit for.
In my "googling" I came across some roses that Obama truly is responsible for.
I "cut and pasted them", but I shortened them up.
Enjoy.
Obama the one hit wonder.
1. He killed Osama bin Laden, for sure.
(well he didn't really but he likes to make it sound that way)
2. Most deportations. Despite his endorsement of the DREAM Act, President Obama has deported more illegal immigrants than any president in history. He's been deporting about 400,000 people a year, about double the number in the George W. Bush administration.
(he did keep his maid and groundskeeper)
3. Most leaks prosecutions. The Obama administration has been criticized for leaking classified information in a series of campaigns to portray the president as a tough, engaged commander-in-chief. But meanwhile the administration information has used the 1917 Espionage Act to target suspected leakers in twice as many cases as all previous presidential administrations combined.
4. Most troops in Afghanistan. The United States had about 30,000 troops in Afghanistan during 2008, the last year of President Bush's term. By the end of 2010, President Obama had increased that number to almost 100,000. It's down to about 88,000 now, which still might surprise people who recall candidate Obama's ringing antiwar speeches of 2008.
5. Most medical marijuana raids. In March 2009 Attorney General Eric Holder said that the Justice Department would end the Bush administration policy of raiding medical marijuana distributors that violated federal statutes as long as the dispensaries appeared to be complying with state laws. Beginning later that year, however, as Lucia Graves reported at The Huffington Post,
"The administration has unleashed an interagency cannabis crackdown that goes beyond anything seen under the Bush administration, with more than 100 raids, primarily on California pot dispensaries, many of them operating in full compliance with state laws. Since October 2009, the Justice Department has conducted more than 170 aggressive SWAT-style raids in 9 medical marijuana states, resulting in at least 61 federal indictments."
Federal agents have seized property of landlords who rent space to medical marijuana dispensaries and have threatened to prosecute state employees who carry out state laws on medical marijuana.
(I though Obama admitted inhaling but sidestepped the cocaine as he didn't like the dealer)
6. Most drone strikes. President Obama doesn't like the way the Bush administration treated prisoners at Guantanamo, so he's taking fewer prisoners. The Obama administration has carried out at least 308 covert drone strikes in Pakistan, more than five times the 44 approved under Bush.
(of course he would not have drones if not for Republican policies)
7. Most fundraisers. All presidents spend a lot of their time fundraising. But President Obama leads the league. Political scientist Brendan J. Doherty, author of the new book The Rise of the President's Permanent Campaign, reports that Obama had held 104 fundraisers by March 6, compared to 94 held by Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush combined. CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller noted that by June 12 Obama had done 160 re-election fundraisers, twice as many as Bush by the same point in 2004.
Obama may be hoping to achieve the distinction of being the president reelected with the highest unemployment rate.
Thanks to David Boaz, the executive vice president of the Cato Institute for helping me to cut and paste this in the interest of educating our liberal friends with the truth.

He says that for the last years, it has not been publically acceptable to hate someone because of skin colour, so it has become the trend to accuse anyone you don't like of being a Commie (witness the accusations against ML King) (even though the vast majority have no idea what Communism is) or an Islamist. I noticed on here a week or so ago, someone commenting on Obama's Marxist friends. When pressed, I bet none has a clue about Marx or his theories. Jimssm 9/12/2012 8:35:47 PM ReportFor those of you wondering about the progress of my refugee sons....
They are doing well. Very hard workers. They are getting used to the food. One will try anything and the other will like most things as long as you don't tell him what it is...lol.
We moved them into residence at the college and university. My wife cried harder letting them go a couple of miles away than she did dropping my daughter off in Ottawa
...... But it was time to push them off on their own a bit more. They have called us every night to say goodnight and speak to my entire family each time.
We've had to advocate for them on a number of occasions...the worst being with Service Ontario who refused to issue a Health Card because they couldn't verify an Ontario address and didn't consider residence at University a permanent address. They wanted a PUC bill or gas company bill with their name and address on it. Try to explain to a thick-headed bureaucrat that a refugee that arrived just weeks ago might not have a gas or PUC account just yet.
One day at a time...lol

Ommitted Saddam, memory isn't what it used to be, but there again the first time it was justified for the invasion of Kuwait, second time, well I suppose junior wanted the same rewards for doing what daddy didn't, hadn't invaded anyone so WMD was as good an excuse as any. What I do not understand is WHY all the advisors these people have, do not check the history books, if they did they would see that other great powers have tried and failed/given up trying to do anything in the middle east/asian area. Britian tried and held the Indian sub continent for 150 years or so and then gave it up as being more trouble than it was worth. Britian and Russia tried to pacify Afghanistan and failed. The road to Bahgdad is paved with British military cemetaries, so why do they keep trying, is it something in the colonial powers physce that they have to try and mold every culture to their own? I do not know, all I do know it has cost countless servicemens lives to prove they cannot. Best reasons I can come up with is purely financial, creates employment, keeps the military/industrial tycoons happy and rich, which in turn makes for larger contributions to policticians re-election campaigns. But there again I am a bit of a cynic!!

shakespeare 9/12/2012 9:16:19 PM ReportOn a slightly different tack, we had our annual meeting with our investment advisor, today. We have been very happy with the advice over the last few years, but wondered about readjustments. The readjustments involve selling certain things that are not performing well. The interesting thing is we were advised to get rid of a few low performing Canadian investments and encouraged to go US. Apparently the word is that Canadian interestments will do O.K. but notch down a little, but that the U.S. economy (somewhat dependent on Europe) is poised for some good gains.
I asked how it related to the US politics. They laughed. It has virtually nothing to do with that, although the autobailout was a good idea, but that either party in power in the next year will claim the upsurge as part of their strategy.
