The Liberals have FAILED to get a majority as a result of the 2 by-elections. Get ready for more defeats Dalton and David.
Grace 9/7/2012 6:23:54 AM Report

President Barack Obama, transformed from inspiring hope-and-change candidate into struggling stay-the-course incumbent, promised Americans wary of giving him another term that "our problems can be solved" if only voters will grant him four more years.

"Know this, America: Our problems can be solved," he told thousands of delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. "Our challenges can be met. The path we offer may be harder, but it leads to a better place. And I'm asking you to choose that future."
"I won't pretend the path I'm offering is quick or easy. I never have," Obama told the cheering crowd in the Time Warner Cable Arena and a television audience expected to number in the tens of millions. "You didn't elect me to tell you what you wanted to hear. You elected me to tell you the truth. And the truth is, it will take more than a few years for us to solve challenges that have built up over a decade."
Obama's main vulnerability is the still-sputtering economy with a stubbornly high unemployment rate at 8.3 percent nearly four years after he took office vowing to restore it to health. In Charlotte, he ridiculed the Republican approach championed by Mitt Romney.

The speech reflected Obama's drive to convince voters to see the election as a choice, and not as a referendum on an embattled incumbent whose job approval ratings are below the 50-percent mark, a traditional danger zone.

"On every issue, the choice you face won't be just between two candidates or two parties. It will be a choice between two different paths for America. A choice between two fundamentally different visions for the future," he said.

At the same time, he did not spell out in detail his plans for a second term should he get one--even as he acknowledged that he is not the candidate he was when he pursued his history-making 2008 drive for the White House.

"You know, I recognize that times have changed since I first spoke to this convention. Times have changed—and so have I," he said. "If you turn away now—if you buy into the cynicism that the change we fought for isn't possible, well, change will not happen."

Good morning everyone. I don't know how many of you are Irish but there sure as hell was a pile of blarney on this site yesterday. I thought it must be St.Patricks Day. rw the little lesson you gave about who did what making it possible for someone else to do better yesterday. Now I have a question for you. Is that like Harper taking credit for the strong Canadian Banking system that Chretien/Martin put in place and that he wanted to change into an American style banking system before it all hit the fan? Just wondering because I firmly believe in logic but must confess I really have trouble following this rose coloured glasses kind. LMAO
BIG BROTHER 9/7/2012 7:21:45 AM Report

Now Grace, what is your point!! Do you not recognize honesty when you see it?? Is there something wrong with what Obama states, in your cut and paste?

He was handed a train going full tilt off a cliff. Your hero, Dubya, was the engineer of that train. Two wars, outright lies to the people and an economy in shatters. Obama was called upon to do superhuman feats, go against the wishes of the GOP and attempt to salvage at least the auto industry. Mitt's advice: let it go bankrupt.
Grace 9/7/2012 7:40:34 AM Report

No point BB...hence the cut and paste!
I saw alot of starry eyes arm waving Ohbie's last night when the speeches and retoric is flying fast and furious. I often what is fact and what is fiction.

right wing 9/7/2012 8:23:20 AM Report

Obama's speech last night reminded me of an old advertisement slogan...WHERE'S THE BEEF!

Told the truth. Yes Big Bro he absolutely did.
He basically told the American people that he was responsible for nothing, they were, they are the hope and they are the change.
I gotta admit, that was slicker than grease on a doorknob.
I do have a new name for Obama...Pontius Pilate...wash those hands.
Obama stood there and criticized Mitt for not having a detailed plan included in his convention speech than went on to do exactly the same thing.
Yes the truth was even told after the convention and the Media pretty much called it a wash.

Big Bro is shaken to the core at the obvious downfall of the chosen one.
He is one of the last still hanging on to "but it is all Bush's fault".

A.E.D. 9/7/2012 9:13:58 AM Report

GRACE:Get your facts straight,Ford went to Capital Hill in late 2008 pushing for the rescue of its rivals.Bankruptcy,GM and Chrysler would have had to go out of business, taking down many suppliers. That would have taken down Ford Motor, who would not have been able to get the parts they needed to to build cars.Ford went to Capital Hill in late 2008 and requested a 9 billion line of credit from the Gov.,and 5 billion loan from the Energy Department. If the BIG 3 auto makers went bankrupt, their demise would have triggered 3 Million layoffs, and pension plans gone, which would have then be dumped on the Gov. pension agency.Putting it so you can understand Grace,we would be in a depression now instead of a recession.OBAMA will win this election hands down,in my opinion.

Gone viral .. Peter Schiff at last night's "Obamagasm" asked delegates if profits at corporations should be banned.
Surprise, surprise ... more than half questioned said "of course". The government can use the money much more effectively. 4 more years of this and the U.S. will make Greece look like an economic miracle.
flyhawk25 9/7/2012 9:42:12 AM Report

right wing...speaking of things that are funny - or tragic depending on your bent - you did not disappoint me this morning.
Admit it.
President Obama could have said more or said less and no matter what you would criticize him.
It is no state secret that America has not recovered financially as much as he or anyone had hoped.
However there is more to the job than just the economy.
The reality of America is that the whole society is in a downward spiral.
Most want 'the American dream' but few want to work to achieve it.
Most of them want a safer society but continue to arm themselves and avoid the process of law.
Most want world peace and a smaller military profile but no one wants to cut jobs in the defense industry.
Most say they are Christians but opt for football on Sunday and want their President to go instead.
Most say they believe in the sanctity of family and marriage but they want to keep trying new designer spouses as they age. Or none at all.
In short they say one thing but refuse to change.
Consequently Obama's message of shared pain and responsibility is unpopular.
As a result Romney's example of inherited wealth, less government and fewer entitlements for the masses resonates. Greed is good because it keeps the unwashed in their place.
Unless you are one of them.
And that's what the election is about.
Don't like what Bush Lite did? Pretend it didn't happen.
Don't like the scientific data on global warming in spite of the weird weather? Deny it and buy another SUV.
After all -'God bless America' is proof that they are The Chosen Tribe.
Unfortunately there are many other tribes who disagree and are itching to have their turn.
No President can change the human condition created by too much bounty and too little responsibility.
The dream is over and now the mess needs to be repaired.

Wisenheimer 9/7/2012 9:53:04 AM Report

Every steel mill in North America went bankrupt (some more than once) in the eighties and nineties. All went thru court administered restructuring and most came out the other side with new owners and new leases on life. The canard that suppliers would disappear and the world would end was scare mongering by unions and their supporters. The billions of tax dollars given to GM, Chrysler and it's workers was unnecessary and will never be repaid.
Every car owner in North America should be able to drop into a GM or Chrysler dealer, and pick up a new Caravan or Impala, that they have already paid for.

Far better to get your money the old fashioned way. From your daddy.
Inherit a job, put your money offshore and close businesses after you 'outsource'.
And those unions...creepy Commie/Socialist fronts. Ban them all because they mess up the real progress of getting really, really rich.
As for democracy and the right to vote...limit it. Far too many unwashed Godless 'others' don't know what's good for progress.
I suppose elections are just the cost of doing business but if you are going to lose... fix the election so the right people keep the power.
Yup. And God Bless America. He shines his light on us and we just redirect it up the collective arses of 'the others'.

Hi everybody!

A major difference in this election is that the GOP has a fighter in their corner, unlike McCain the last time around who refused to counter punch.

Obama is being beaten like a rented mule by the truth. As long as this is a referendum on Obummer's record - he loses. He looks pathetic begging for a second chance and blaming everybody and everything else for his epic FAIL - including the weather!

Sorry dude, but that's what happens when you play too much golf and attend too many Hollywood parties - business suffers.

Meanwhile the dems are becoming an in-cohesive gang of special interest groups who can't agree on anything and are separating at the seams.

And by the way, who cares about what happened when "W" was in office? Nobody.

Bye bye Barak...

Have a great day!

"AND BY THE WAY, WHO CARES ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED WHEN "W" WAS IN OFFICE? NOBODY."

That's one thing about the Ole B'ser like Rush, Hannity and their ilk, OB'ser knows how to "double down".

Despite the fact that his "reflections", as in baseless utterances, on Monday of this week were greeted with the derision they so richly deserved ... and he was pilloried and thumped like a birthday pinata (or in his case a birther pinata) ... He's back!!! With another epically stupid offering.

Who cares??? .... check ANY newspaper, tv or radio news programme, this site or hundreds of others like it, even in the most cursory manner ... millions still care ... because the effects of his "leadership" have consequences that could stretch beyond the next couple of decades. The list of "W's" consequential failures is mind-boggling.
Several posters over the last couple of years have enumerated them in depth.

Speaking of "depth" ... do you ever consider what you are about to post or reflect on the veracity of the post?

I expect you to run to your "default mode" as in "See how I've stirred up some "lefties"."

That is your usual COP-OUT ... because the "information" you attempt to spread is NEVER properly researched and you are NEVER able to defend it when it is questioned.

You remind me of the Whack-a-Mole game at the midway. Fortunately the little moles have no brains and thus the constant hammering doesn't affect their continuing to function. Oh wait ... I may have hit on something there.

Maybe some of you should consider that the Republicans have the combined majority in the U.S. congress and that is why Mr. Obama has had such a hard time w/the economy. The GOP is not allowing the bills he promotes to be passed. Of course that is only one big reason, the other might be that Americans are buying goods and services made in any other country but the U.S. Then there is the mechanization of everything produced or manufactured in the U.S. from goods to services that have made getting and retaining a job almost impossible for some because the manual labour required in said jobs has gone way down.
