Good morning everyone , hope everyone had a safe and happy weekend. Good to see your list back Spelly but I hope you were not up playing crib with the duck all night. lol. Status I have to keep reminding you not to confuse these poor righties with facts. Now we will be burdened with all kinds of silly blather about it all being the lefties fault. By the way they think that anyone who isn't extreme right is a lefty. I'm not surprised I didn't get any response to my info that the Canadian debt is now over 590 Billion and climbing. Truly amazing these righties are blind to one of their own burying us in debt.

Family history has always been an interest of mine and where you came from and the people and enviroment that influenced you makes up who you are.
I find it curious however that Mitt's family record goes into detail including pictures and history than does Mr Obama's
I've heard much more about his father including pictures and little mention of his mother or ever seeing any pictures of her. I remember something about a grandother being a very important influence in his life but for the life of me I can not remember the details.
Anyway..let's review what we have here at hand since you weren't coming up with any thing I thought I'd help you.It is actually very hard to find non leaning or slanted info out there on the interweb from both sides.

My pedigree is more obscure! My Da and Aunts had much younger siblings years apart and like Stat's, the buggery thing, we had an uncle who was imprisoned in the forties for life. We couldn't talk about him but we had a few paintings of Jesus hanging around the house, Unck found him in jail. My Da was an ardent believer in Capitol punishment and would threaten us at the drop of a hat. He also was a confirmed catlick who after a hard saturday night of drinking would ensure we all went to mass sunday morn to hear Father McFeely extoll the virtues weekly attendance. He favoured one of my brothers with lots of hugs guess he recognized he was a little different and grew up funny. Yep normal east coast life. I envy the luge thing, imagine hurtling down the mountain in tights, balls first, wow!

On his application for funding to the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program to attend college, he said he was not a US citizen and that he was born in Kenya.
If he was telling the truth then, that means he's lying now.
If he was lying then, it was in order to swindle money out of the organization.
That makes him a liar and swindler now.
No wonder we got problems - a president who is a liar, or a swindler, or both, who hangs around with convicted terrorists, tax cheats, and the like...

Anything is possible I guess but you would think that somewhere during his travels as a child that a passport record exists verifying his birth country and checking other past documents can verify or disprove what was presented as his birth certificate.

Hey "Are Dubbya" I got feelings ya know. Truth be I always envied spoiled kids like RW. While we had homemade bread and molasses for lunch he had white machine sliced baker's bread, peanut butter and jam sandwiches with the crust removed and cut into cute little triangles with a pickle on the side. Rotten little kid would never trade. He also got a new super glide CCM bike with horn, bell, streamers and matching mud flaps. I had my sisters hand me down sans fenders with mismatched front and back wheel long before it was popular. Status showed me his super duper racing bike that weighs only 8 ounces. Bet he didn't have little girly triangular sandwiches when he was growing up?

Ah the joys of country living - Friends and the wife are down at the pump house changing out the pump. Our roles are reversed, I cook, shop and do dishes, she does the mechanical stuff including the maintenance on my boat's diesel. She's a gem and the best kept secret in town. Anyway when you have no running water you have to plan your bathroom breaks. I'd like to thank a few Tim Horton's around town and my sister in law for quick pit stops of the solid kind. My beloved is almost done so I look forward to more reading and naval gazing from my own throne. No RW we couldn't afford a professional plumber to come out on labour day so we had to settle on a little 5 ft 4 french lady and one gorilla sized lineman and two step kids who are the best in the world.

In response to the poll about helmets for skaters: Leave the parenting of skateboarders up to their parents. Pretty simple.
The cost doesn't support the cause and it never will. Not to mention the domino effect it would have on other sports like skiing, snowboarding, rollerblading, basketball, baseball and more. Not to mention some people arent even capable of crossing a street without getting hit by a car so let's add walking to the list.

Now I get the 'empty chair rant' the other night. Clint was acting and schilling for his new flick.
The poor Mitt Mob were hoping to channel Dirty Harry and instead channeled Ronnie Reagan in his last years talking to his horse.
No problem - they immediately did the Republican thing and refused to talk about him. Now he joins Bush/Cheney and Palin on the 'Forgotten List'.
Instead we're getting the birther comments on here again. And the Commie/Marxist Pinko List.
They also choose to ignore the lack of a 'voter bump' for Romney after the convention. Historically that runs about 8% at the polls.
His is flat.
So here's the challenge.
Mitt's promise 12 million new jobs. Assuming Bain Capital isn't hiring Americans lately, where's he getting them?
Mitt's ignored the plight of vets and their families. What's he got planned for those poor patriots who volunteered, got hurt and are now coming home to fractured futures?
Gas prices are through the roof. What is his energy plan? Besides invading Alberta?
I'm afraid "I deserve to be President because I'm rich and handsome, I have a sweet wife and family and...you know - we don't need four more years of 'one of them' in the White House".

Things have changed in the western world due to market forces, the rising economic giants of China and India and the pablum of "cheap is good" a la Walmart. Save more...live better and f_ck the long term consequences.
Corporations have dictated how things ought to be and to think that anyone person, specifically Obama or Romney can somehow turn the clock back and return the U.S of A into the pre eminent economic super power is delusional!
Obama is an overly cautious President and coupled with the fact that his decisions have been blocked by a GOP congress makes it look like he is being ineffectual.

The Times' Thomas Friedman labels this "The Clash of the Generations : The generation that came of age in the last 50 years, my generation, will be remembered most for the incredible bounty and freedom it received from its parents and the incredible debt burden and constraints it left on its kids." As the AARP (to which I belong) and other senior lobbying groups fight tooth and nail any revisions of current Medicare and Social Security, the proposed changes simply mean later retirement ages, greater contributions, and fewer benefits for younger people -- all of which are inevitable.
4. Health care inflation. This major source of America's econmic decline both underlies, and extends far beyond, the coming Medicare crisis. All economists know what it is -- but it can't be spoken. So, at the same time that Times conservative columnist David Brooks applauded the possible rapprochement between the Speaker of the House and the President on the debt ceiling (oops on that!), Brooks announced: "We won’t fundamentally address the debt until we control health care inflation." Which we will never do because (a) conservatives insanely propose continuing a privately funded free-market health care system, (b) a legion of powerful interest groups (AARP, insurers, pharmaceuticals) resist all efforts to deinflate health care, and, most important of all (c) Americans won't hear of restricting our everyone-gets-to-have-everything approach to health care.
