Early start today. It was great to get up and watch CNBC Europe heaping praise on the Canadian economy. I would also like to welcome Tony Clement to Sault Ste. Marie and say thanks for the great job the Harper Government is doing!

Apperently there are some grumblers out there that are upset Jordan Nolan is not bringing the Cup to Sault Ste Marie and only to Garden River. Why should he bring it to the Soo. He is from Garden River. What kind of pride he must feel to be able to bring this back to his community. All you grumblers get off your lazy asses and drive to Garden River to see the Cup if you want to. Good for you Jordan, and don't give into the "haters"

Must be an early start for the neo-con Harper Lovefest.
To hold Tony Clement up as doing anything but throw our tax money away is nuts.
The guy is a World Class Weasel.
Of course if you live in his riding you'll invite him for tea and hope he brings his check book filled with our money.
Then again I suppose it should give us hope. Once our guy here figures out where the keys to the company safe are we should also benefit from the Harper generosity.
But first he has to learn to schmooze the Boss. Right after he learns how to tie his shoes.

Further to what Right Winger said, we now have a mayor who has a good working relationship with our guy in Ottawa who is on the government side of the house AND the guy in Toronto who is on the goverment side of the house.
The three of them get along, talk to one another and work together for the good of Sault Ste. Marie and area.
Once we get past the need for austerity and balancing the books and it's time to spend a little money again, I guaran-damn-tee ya that we will be "on the radar" and "in the loop"

I am glad for that, but in my opinion our mayor shows a complete disrespect for her constituents. As I mentioned a while back, she hosted the Mayor's (of Sault Ste Marie Ont) golf tournament (at Sault Ste Marie Golf Club) to raise funds for the Untied Way of Sault Ste Marie Ontario. During the festivities she thought it appropriate to sport the Oaks in Kinchloe windshirt jacket. Really. I beleive she is a member there with which I really don't care, especially if she was a member before she was mayor. However don't show it off during your duties as mayor. And finally I have seen her at Glen's as well.

I was watching cbc news this morning about the shootings in the Toronto area this past weekend.The citizens are asking for solutions and answers to this horrific shooting. The police are asking for help from the public or any witnesses who were at the block party.
As it turns out people are too afraid to come forward to help with any information that they may have.
What makes me so mad is that they will keep their silence and do nothing to help and or prevent such an event from happening in the future or bring those who are responsible to justice.
These are the ones who will remain a part of the problem and allow such a tradgedy to continue.
It was mentioned in the news that people in this neighborhood take great pride in where they live and I say if this is the case, stand up and come forward and do it for those who died in this event.

You know he did it.......you know the goings on of this person..... the drugs....etc.
Tell me that you would actually go and testify against this person,knowing full well he is a gang member and everyone will know who you are......... they do not hide you when you testify ( which, in these circumstances, the courts should allow then maybe more people would come forward ). Say your testimony puts this gang member in jail for what he did ( remember "they" all know who you are now.......... do you think you'd make it home alive ?

Another thing, the police know full well the gang activity. They need to step up and start taking them down. Instead they want the community to report them.
Get the gang task force out there and start watching these people and doing something about them.
The laws need to tighten up about these gangs . You can't tell me, the police, detectives don't know about them.

Where was the Ratepayers Association on the Allen Side Road issue? Ratepayers signed a petition to have the speed limit lowered to 40 Kph.
This should have gone to a vote of council.
Councillor Manzo and Kompotich needed the assistance of the Ratepayers Association and they dropped that ball on this issue.
This is where working with City Staff and not the elected officials does not work.
City Staff are not elected.The Ratepayers should have been working with the two elected Councillors. The democratic process failed here as this should have been a vote of council.
Where was the leadership of our mayor who should have called for a vote of council.
Where were all the other Councillors ?Anyone of them could have called for a vote, not one of these Councillors have shown any leadership.

I find it incredibly tacky that the mayor cross-border shops and supports golf clubs from Michigan... kinda like biting the hand that feeds you.
All my respect for the mayor went out the door when she was late for the Remembrance Day celebration just after her election (I know I carry a grudge for a long time. Sue me). Her excuse was that there was a mix up with the times. Please. Everyone knows the significance of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

You know what Hawk, here is what she should do.
The next time a store wants to locat to Soo ON she should tell them if they open in Soo Michigan they will get a ton of customers from Soo Canada. Make sure as well to tell them that the Gas is cheaper over there and the wages. With the new laws on duties they'd be foolish to open in Soo Canada. And while she is at it, tell them that she got her outfit from the JC Penny's right in Soo Michigan. But of course this should all be done at Freighter's restaurant overlooking the Soo Locks. It would make for a very nice sit down.

No hawk, you are missing the point. She IS the mayor of Sault Ste Marie ON, not running for it. I would find it hard to believe that an adult who is from Soo ON has not shopped in Soo MI. In fact I would believe it less than I believe that Clinton didn't inhale.
Nobody force her to be mayor. She chose that. With that should come the responsibilty of supporting ALL the constituents in your city, not just the ones that give you deals or are cheaper than Mayor Bosbus' constituents.

Case in point gas in North Bay last weekend was 121.9 (earlier in that week it was 116.9)
Gas here was ten cents more. Even little old Elliot Lake was 5 cents cheaper than Sault Canada.
Greed of Canadian Sault businesses causes much of the cross border shopping.

The cost of doing business in Soo MI is 1/2 of what it is in Canada so how can they match prices over here in Canada????

This Ratepayers Association is just another layer of redtape and bureauacracy. You question the democratic process at city council. I must of missed the held referendum establishing the Ratepayers Association as the voice of the citizen. The chickens at soo Michigan grocery stores are gross. Can't argue with that! The skin is so thick you can't eat it unless you deep fry it....Come to think of it, meat at Soo Michigan stores is of a low quality...no doubt. I never buy it unless its cooked already..but its not an "American" thing....lots of good quality meat in that gigantic country!
FYI...The highest quality steaks a restaurant can buy legally in Ontario, are available at Embers, downtown...I haven't had them there,but I know the product they buy, and it's top shelf!

Did anyone of the posters on this site watch the live feed of the interrogation of Dr. Mazza by the committee set up to investigate ORNGE? Boy oh boy, talk about being thrown under the bus by politicians. The liberal gov't of Ontario should hang their collective heads in shame! I am not forcing anyone to come forward.In good conscience people should do the right thing if they want to ever feel safe in their neighborhoods.If not then the problem will not go away and the criminals have a strangle hold over them.
Be a part of the solution and not part of the problem. I have heard stories in the news where ordinary citizens have empowered themselves to rid their neighborhoods of any bad elements and take back control of their lives.
The only thing they fear is fear itself.

Much tighter bank regulations and fiscal restrains were in place long before Harper took office. Harper has inherited this windfall as much as Obama inherited that pile of crap that was left over from his predecessor.
Let's just hope he doesn't muck it up.

Obama, on the other hand, inherited a Debt-GDP ratio of a very managable 75% from Bush and has driven it up over 100%. The US, under Obama, is now on credit watch while Canada under Harper, increases productivity, increases employment, increases wealth for average Canadians and decreases its deficit and soon, its debt.
