Retreaded 6/15/2012 7:18:03 AM ReportMcGuinty may have lost the support of the NDP. I smell a summer election coming up with an NDP minority government. Will Tony Martin run for the NDP?
right wing 6/15/2012 7:55:57 AM ReportAgreed Retreaded, except for the NDP minority government part...dream on.
McGuinty is flexing muscle he does not have by threatening a general election and he knows it.
Grump 6/15/2012 8:12:51 AM Reportrw Dalton knows that the Dippers and your pal Hudak are broke and we may be getting into the silly season on here but we don't need it there. Anyway Dalton doesn't mind as it will give him a majority if they do. Your pal Harper and crew are real winners too. They are currently taking away the democratic rights of all Canadians and some off you are cheering them on. Go figure!
Grump 6/15/2012 8:15:54 AM ReportFly do you ever wonder if there is some kind of a brain eating disease out there? It certainly might explain this new alliance and some of the wierd posts.lol.
right wing 6/15/2012 8:25:10 AM ReportAgreed Grump, and some have an advanced case causing them to believe in conspiracy theories....have you seen your Doctor?
Sam C 6/15/2012 9:30:52 AM ReportGrump... just what "democratic rights" is Dalton taking away, and how does his influence spread beyond Ontario?
flyhawk25 6/15/2012 9:33:00 AM ReportGrump...I have the luxury of knowing rw.
The simplest explanation I think is that while he certainly is a free enterprise conservative he also adopts a personna on here.
I like him and we both role play a bit here for the entertainment value.
I have many other friends who are far more right wing and more rigid. But we still all get along.
My dream is to get SQ and right wing together.Think Woody Allen meets Donald Trump.
As for his 'new best friend' - no comment.
right wing 6/15/2012 9:33:33 AM ReportSam C,
I believe you misread there Sam, Grump is into the conspiracy theory with Harper, not McGuinty.
right wing 6/15/2012 9:36:07 AM Reportflyhawk25
Not sure what you are visualizing as "together" but I only "flow" one way.
Stats and I have been together and you were there, forgot did you.
We have also crossed paths several times while out and about and always have a chat.
;)
right wing 6/15/2012 9:39:02 AM Report...entertainment value???... no such thing...I could charge for stuff this good!
theprotector 6/15/2012 10:01:19 AM ReportJust heard that the OMNR is being dissolved. Forestry is already at Northen Deveopment and mines. They dont do any fish or wildlife in the field so they will just flip that over to a super ministry with forestry and OFRI is being sold to a private sector company since it works outside its mandate anyway (what ever their mandate is, oh yeah sitting around picnic tables on nice days for hours on end!) Game Wardens are wanna be's anyway so they are going to be housed under the opp.
right wing 6/15/2012 10:26:16 AM ReportJust heard?
From where?
I'll have to call my brother-in-law, he is a Conservation Officer, and check it out.
25miller 6/15/2012 10:29:51 AM Report"Game Wardens" Now there is a name I never heard in many years.
right wing 6/15/2012 10:32:18 AM Reporttheprotector
Your use of the term "wanna be's" when referring to Conservation Officer tells me two things, you wanted to be one and could not cut it or you are an avid outdoorsman that does not always follow the rules.
You are suggesting they wanna be.....
grizb8x 6/15/2012 11:16:35 AM ReportJust acouple of comments on the state of news reporting in this day and age.Trying to follow the reports on the shootings in Alberta on the CBC and it is becoming painful to watch. They are concentrating way too much time on what is being said on Twitter. Social media seems to have become a replacement for actual reporting. I expect a higher standard from the CBC and they are falling far short.
Secondly, why is the statement from the BFN a news story. Its the same info you get on the Bear Wise site. If I send in a statement, copying the same info, will I get a headline "Grizb8 offers advice on problem bears"
Sam C 6/15/2012 12:05:55 PM Reportrw, Grump... yeah, I noticed that right after I posted, and tried to post a follow-up to correct that. Unfortunately I hit the 'Preview' button but not the 'Post' button -- the post was still waiting to be sent when I got back in from cutting the lawn.
Same question applies, though... what "democratic rights" have been taken away?
right wing 6/15/2012 12:13:13 PM ReportSam....now that part Grump will have to answer when he gets back from therapy.
;)
theprotector 6/15/2012 1:40:13 PM ReportActually right wing I know many game wardens and I can think of 4 off the top of my head that failed to get into the opp so they became game wardens. Two of them work out of the district office here in the sault and one of them even has a relative that is an opp.
I could careless about them other than that is a lot of money they get paid for sitting in the office. For every dollar they bring in it costs the tax payer 1.43 according to my contacts in Peterborough. From a business perspective do you think that is a reasonable return on the dollar?
cathyh 6/15/2012 1:52:10 PM Reporttheprotector: I don't think game wardens are there to make money. They are there to make sure that the laws are followed. Policing is not about making money.
Grump 6/15/2012 1:56:17 PM Reportrw you are right meaningfull hard work is good therapy for anyone. Now the answer is simple so pay attention. This omnibus bill takes the power to change or alter laws away from Parliament and puts it into the hands of whoever is running that Ministry or whoever is running him or her. It would be the same as if the Mayor of Sault Ste Marie took the power to change by-laws and departments etc. without any imput from the residents or council. Now anyone who can't grasp this needs more than therapy. These rights were fought and paid for by our Service Men and Women over a number of wars. I can tell you true that we are not much if we sit quietly by and let this happen no matter what your politics are.
cathyh 6/15/2012 2:50:56 PM ReportGrump: What a good analogy. Harper and his cohorts will not survive the next election. That is my prediction.
Grump 6/15/2012 2:57:37 PM ReportA few years ago I built an OPP Detachment in Hornepayne and one small corner office was set aside for use by the Wardens. There were two that I met for that area, one from Wawa who seemed to be a fairly nice fellow and the other a local. Rumour had it the local fellow had been the biggest poacher in the area before he became a Game Warden.
Spellchecker 6/15/2012 3:29:37 PM ReportHappy Anniversary, JUSTANOTHERNAME and Joe.
25miller 6/15/2012 3:34:05 PM ReportThey haven't went by the name "game wardens " in many yours...They are called Conservation Officers...CO's.Their main job is to protect the wild life from people breaking the regulations of hunting and fishing. They do their best and I am rather happy when i see them out in the force.Wish they were A LOT more of them.
Spellchecker 6/15/2012 3:36:36 PM ReportHaven't GONE
Prevost 6/15/2012 3:41:12 PM Reportol' grump halucinating again. His take on things military and political are becoming tedious to read. But he is, after all, the smartest person in Northern Ontario. I know this because he keeps telling the rest of us.
Wheels17 6/15/2012 3:50:52 PM ReportCan we talk about something else other than boring old politics? Almost everyday it is something about either the federal or provincial government leaders. Let's talk about things going on in the community or around the world.
25miller 6/15/2012 4:32:05 PM ReportGood luck on that one Wheels17..They talk more about the USA news and politics then they do of their own.
Wheels17 6/15/2012 4:55:56 PM ReportSo has anyone heard anymore about the St. Mary's Paper site and what they are going to do with it? I think they should turn it back into a historical site with the old lock and everything. It would definitely pull in alot of money from the tourists visiting this area.
right wing 6/15/2012 5:27:57 PM Report25miller
Anybody that can't even get the name correct, Conservation Officers, is not to be taken to seriously.
I like you do not have any problems with them, they are there to protect our resources, plain and simple.
right wing 6/15/2012 5:37:01 PM ReportGrump
omnibus bill:
A draft law before a legislature which contains more than one substantive matter, or several minor matters which have been combined into one bill, ostensibly for the sake of convenience.
Would you mind oh "wise" one stating what bill it is that you have based your conspiracy theory on.
right wing 6/15/2012 6:03:24 PM Reporttheprotector
For every dollar they bring in????
...and he wants to be taken seriously.
skipper dave 6/15/2012 6:48:19 PM ReportSweet Soo! Had an Angiogram today and the poor nurses were beside themselves. Tried putting in an IV thirteen times without success. Apparently the chemo I had buggered up my veins and they blow out easily. Finally gave me an oral sedative and went thru the groin to get the artery and vein for a deeper sedative. To make a long story short I have a heart and the plumbing is fine. I also feel this incredible warm feeling all over me. RW, I love you and anytime you need a hug why let me know. What a nice guy!
Grump 6/15/2012 7:40:17 PM ReportThe Protector. Hey hotshot how about telling everyone what your accomplishments are or as I suspect are you just a nasty mouthpiece working as a rent a cop or some other profession that requires a man of your intelligence. lol
flyhawk25 6/15/2012 7:42:12 PM Reportskipper dave...ha!
God bless you.I've been there and almost matched your record.
Long story short - when Nurse Rachet tried to unplug me from the thing-a-ma-jig in my groin I was spouting blood like oil off a runaway drilling rig.
I'm flat on my back, she's saying some words I'd get my mouth washed out by my sainted mother for using, my pal the Bald Baptist/designated driver is just about ready to pass out and I'm so stoned all I can do is giggle.
Two pieces of what looked like flooring tile and a couple of C-clamps later I was fine.
I was purple from stem to stern and at that point I realized when I 'recovered' that God wanted me to live to torment rednecks.
God bless socialized medicine.
Grump 6/15/2012 7:49:03 PM Reportrw any government bent on ramming that much through with no debate is sure as hell not doing it to be expedient or for the welfare of Canadians as a whole. The mere fact that laws present and with future changes now are controlled by a few elected people and not Parliament as a whole should scare the hell out of everyone. I know you are not dumb so stop acting the part.
mallet 6/15/2012 9:11:05 PM ReportSkipper Dave and Flyhawk25...
Isn't that a lovely procedure, especially when they tell you that you will have that lovely "warm feeling" without telling you you will also feel the urge to P. Where did you go for it Skipper, here or in Sudbury? Glad to hear your pump is fine and the the piping to and from it, personally I had a few little birthday balloons and some plastic and stainless inserted. I think they could have come up with something a little more high tech than that big clamp thro, that sometimes leaves a larger bruise than where they put that hollow darning needle in. However I think that's the cheapest drunk I ever had and not even a headache afterwards, marvellous what modern drugs can do .....
Guenther_Of_The_Apes 6/15/2012 9:14:22 PM ReportGood Lord!
The three of you are making a young man terrified to age!
mallet 6/15/2012 9:39:08 PM ReportGuenther...
Well depends how lucky you are on the day, you could have some pretty young thing playing around in your nether regions or prehaps it could be some hairy ass'd old matlot who learned the trade at sea!! And then again when you get to the age of colonscopies as long as the guy doing it for you hasn't got both hands on your shoulders you are okay!!!!!
flyhawk25 6/15/2012 9:42:57 PM ReportGOTApes...fear not.
Aging beats hell out of the alternative.
There are many ways to judge if you are 'old'.
But when Nurse Ratchet says "You manage your own pain dear. Just tell me if you get uncomfortable."
If you smile and salivate like Pavlov's dog you are old.
If you are young you'll say "Hell no, I don't wanna become a junky."
Trust me on this one.
right wing 6/15/2012 11:09:57 PM ReportGrump
Stop acting the part? Why would anybody try with you around.
As I suspected you threw something out there but when called on it...suddenly it became "so you think you can dance", and yes you can.
I'll give you this, you do think you are the master of smoke and mirror.
Retreaded 6/15/2012 11:26:50 PM ReportYikes...a bunch of old men sitting around comparing their aged bodies...really exciting to read about.
Come on ladies...lets hear about your breast implants and how they sometimes leak !!!
Big Bad Bob 6/16/2012 11:35:21 AM ReportGrump
As the old saying goes, “It sometimes takes a crook to catch a crook.”
Your story of the game warden who was a former poacher reminded me of that of Eugène François Vidocq (1775 –1857), a French criminal and criminalist whose life story inspired several writers, including Victor Hugo and Honoré de Balzac. A former crook who subsequently became the founder and first director of the crime-detection Sûreté Nationale as well as the head of the first known private detective agency, he is considered to be the father of modern criminology and of one of the French national police departments. He is also regarded as the first private detective.
