SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The sound of Louisiana will stomp into Sault Ste. Marie when Dennis Stroughmatt and Creole Stomp return to the Arts Center stage on October 16 during Great Lake State Weekend at Lake Superior State University.

The party starts at 8 p.m. and you don’t want to be late!

Led by French-speaking Creole fiddler and accordionist Dennis Stroughmatt, this well-known group has been performing together for the past 13 years throughout the United States.

Informally known as “The Grateful Dead of Creole Music,” they are a favorite on the Cajun-Zydeco dance circuit.

Creole Stomp is a band that knows how to throw a Louisiana party.

Thirteen years on the road has honed the band into a well-oiled machine: hard-driving, fast, and smooth.

Creole Stomp shows have become legendary and those who have seen them know the emotion and passion that jumps from the band.

The band has become a celebrated fixture at venues around the United States, ranging from park concerts and theaters to folk and blues festivals, including The Big Muddy Folk Festival in Missouri, St. Petersburg’s Crawfish Festival, the New Orleans Jazz Festival, the Las Vegas-Charleston Arts Center, the Memphis Beale Street Zydeco Festival, and many, many more, including Midwest performances in East Lansing, Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa.

Tickets are $15 for general admission, $13 for seniors, and $5 for students and children 17-under.

They are available online at lssu.edu/artscenter or by calling the Norris Center box office at 906-635-2602.

Great Lake State Weekend is a great opportunity for families and alumni to come to campus and enjoy what Lake State has to offer, and this concert is just one example. For a complete list of GLSW events, including the Alumni Awards Banquet, visit lssu.edu/glsw.
