It was a scorcher, but the heat didn’t slow down the fine talent from near and far that took the stage during yesterday’s Emergency Music Festival at Rocky DiPietro Field.

Joining forces with the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District, this year’s festival included Art in the Parking Lot, a showcase of local young and emerging visual artists.

The 2nd annual Emergency Festival opened with sets from local artists Gnaeus, Northwest, and The Pixo Control.

Visiting festival performers were Poor Young Things, The Sunparlour Players, and Fast Romantics from Toronto, and Tasman Jude from Grand Prairie.

As the day progressed under the relentless sun and attendees’ sweat glands kicked into overdrive, Tasman Jude’s front man Caleb Hart wasn’t shy about offering fans post-gig ‘swugs’ (sweaty hugs).

We’re not sure how many accepted his offer, but SooToday is please to have learned the term and plan to use it on a regular basis.
