Last week, SooToday asked Sault Ste. Marie to rally behind Northwest, the only local contender to make it through the initial round of this year's CBC Searchlight music competition.

Thanks to your support, our lads have found themselves sitting in the regional top 10.

Now one step closer to being crowned the nation's best new talent, Northwest could once again use your help.

Fans and supporters are encouraged to click here to cast your vote daily until Monday, April 27.

The following is a note of thanks submitted by the members of Northwest:

Thanks to the support of our totally kick-ass fan base, Northwest has made it to the top 10 for Northern Ontario for CBC’s Searchlight competition. We are absolutely blown away that you guys have helped us come this far, and if we could we would give each and every one of you a basket of kittens. But this fight ain’t over yet; right now we’re Luke Skywalker flying over the surface of the Death Star, Han’s just taken care of Darth Vader, and it’s time to blow this thing and get out of here. Friends, we need you to help us use the force to hit that thermal exhaust port.

We know we just lost a lot of you with that analogy, so if you could just see your way clear to continue voting until Monday, April 27 at 3 p.m., that’d be just swell. We already have the best team in Canada right now, let’s show this nation that we have the best band too.

Regards,

Northwest (Wayne, Yak, Greg, Mike and Marc)
