Summer dance sizzles at Quinte Ballet School of Canada!

With the advent of spring just a week away, Quinte Ballet School of Canada (QBSC) is dancing with preparations for the annual Summer Dance Intensive program.

And it’s going to be hot hot hot!

The current audition tour for the school’s Summer Dance Intensive has seen an increase in student enrolments and there are more audition dates on the calendar, including a special Master Class and Audition at Sault Ste. Marie’s Elite Dance Force studio, 626 Queen Street East.

"These satellite auditions give us the opportunity to network with other studios across the country and to meet their talented pupils.  It certainly helps the students auditioning for our professional instructors to feel more relaxed within their own setting and hometown," explains Ann-Marie Brady, audition tour coordinator.

Most of the professional program student population at Quinte Ballet School originates from the Summer Dance Intensive (SDI) program, which requires an audition process and evaluation by the Artistic Director, Catherine Taylor and her professional instructors.

It is easy to register for the audition tour and QBSC programs due to the newly revamped website.

DVD and video auditions are still pouring in from across the country and the school is making arrangements for residency at Albert College.

Ciprian Campianu is the professional instructor who will be leading the Master Class and subsequent Audition in Sault Ste. Marie.

He has been an instructor and friend of QBSC for many years and is looking forward to greeting and teaching the area’s dedicated young dancers.

All students who wish to register for the March 29 audition are asked to pre-register by contacting Jocelyn Perry, registrar, at 1-866-962-9274, ext. 21, i[email protected] or by visiting the website

The fee to audition and attend the Master Class is $50.

For those students interested in auditioning only, the fee is $40, and for those just attending the Master Class, the fee is $20.

The Master classes run from 12 to 1:30 p.m. for dancers aged 7 to 10 years, and from 1:30 until 3 p.m. for ages 11 years and older.

The audition combines all ages and runs from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m.

The Quinte Ballet School of Canada, a registered non-profit charitable organization, is proud of its position within the Quinte and Canadian community as a place of learning and the arts.

Potential students and their families considering QBSC are encouraged to visit here or the Facebook page to find out more about the school and its initiatives, programs and upcoming events.
