Local animator will walk the Oscar red carpet

Sault Ste. Marie will have representation when the red carpet rolls out for the 87th annual Academy Awards on February 22, 2015.

Co-directed by Sault ex-pat Graham Annable, The Boxtrolls found itself on today’s list of Oscar nominees for Best Animated Feature.

Fighting The Boxtrolls for the Oscar statuette are Big Hero 6, How To Train Your Dragon 2, Song of the Sea, and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.

This is familiar territory for Annable’s stop motion feature, having shared the nomination for Best Animated Feature at the 72nd Golden Globes with Big Hero 6 and How To Train Your Dragon 2 on January 11, 2015.

This year’s Academy Awards ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, February 22 with host Neil Patrick Harris.
