More than just music at the Searchmont Music Festival

The 4th annual Searchmont Music Festival is set to kick off this Friday evening at Searchmont Resort with music, vendors, food and activities for the whole family.

The 4th annual Searchmont Music Festival is set to kick off this Friday evening at Searchmont Resort with music, vendors, food and activities for the whole family.

Two stages will feature a variety of live entertainment, both local and otherwise, from Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21.

Visiting performers include JoPo and The RiZe from Sudbury, John Kelly (from Pagan Mary), and Canadian country artist Ginny McIlmoyle during her first visit to the Algoma region.

Bill Priddle of Treble Charger fame is one of the event's featured local performers scheduled for Saturday night.

A number of family activities, such as a bike rodeo, sing-a-longs, art workshops and Entomica adventure hikes, are scheduled for Saturday afternoon, and savvy travellers to the festival now have the option to take the ACR passenger train to the event during the Our Mountain Adventure ‘musical ride’.

The hour-long rail journey from Sault Ste. Marie to Searchmont will feature a number of performances from area musicians and is “a rare opportunity to take one of the last remaining flagstop passenger trains in Canada,” states Britta Wolfert, musician and member of the festival organizing committee.

The Searchmont Music Festival at Searchmont Resort (Highway 532) runs September 19 from 5 pm to midnight, September 20 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., and September 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Overnight camping is available, as are Searchmont Resort chalet and villa rentals.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at Stone’s Office Supply, Case’s Music and the Rad Zone.
