~ FRIDAY, AUGUST 15, 2014 ~ Art in the Parking Lot: The Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District in conjunction with the United Steelworkers District 6 is hosting the Art in the Parking Lot festival at the new Mill Market at 35 Canal Drive.

Art in the Parking Lot: The Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District in conjunction with the United Steelworkers District 6 is  hosting the Art in the Parking Lot festival at the new Mill Market at 35 Canal Drive. The event was initiated to provide young and emerging artists an opportunity to show off their talent. Come enjoy paintings, drawings, photography, fine craft, digital artworks, wearable artworks, live entertainment, movie screenings and more from 4 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Devon, Olivia, Connor, Kristi, James, Brody, and master of ceremonies Jessie play Gusto's BBQ Grill Restaurant (Wellington Square Mall) from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

The Swamp Cats perform at Dana's Bar and Grill, 523 Queen St. East, from 6 to 10 p.m.

The North Shore Agricultural Society presents the annual Laird Fair at the fairgrounds on Lake George Road. The weekend includes live entertainment such as Thin Ice, Highway 17, the Cloud Bandits and others. Other activities including tractor pulls, interactive displays, food and refreshments, livestock competitions and much more take place throughout the weekend. Join the open jam at the Moose Lodge, 543 Trunk Rd., from 8 p.m. until midnight. Open to the public. From beginners to advanced, all are welcome.

Jazz Friday at the Water Tower Pub, 360 Great Northern Rd., with Eugene Gassi starts at 8 p.m.

Mustang Heart performs at the Esquire Club, 102 Second Line West, starting at 9:30 p.m.

Tym Morrison plays the Harp, 701 Pine St., from 10 p.m. until close.

~ SATURDAY, AUGUST 16, 2014 ~

Enjoy a film screening of Poseidon 2006 on the outdoor deck aboard the MS Norgoma Museum Ship. Music begins at 9 p.m. with the film starting at 9:30 p.m. Refreshments available. Seating is limited.

Redline plays the OLG Charity Casino, 30 Bay St., from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Art in the Park: The Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District in conjunction with the United Steelworkers District 6 is proud to present the 14th annual Art in the Park festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion. The event will feature artists of a range of mediums including sculpture, painting, photography, fine crafts, literature and more. Admission is free and those attending can partake in a wide variety of activities, including free life-drawing with an instructor, children's crafts and games, a 50/50 draw, food vendors and local talent by Case's Music.
