Shadows of the Mind Film Festival proud to screen locally shot film, The Story of Luke

SAULT STE. MARIE - The 14th annual Shadows of the Mind film festival is set for February 27 - March 3, 2013.

This year’s festival will present five days of cinema from around the world, including films that have been nominated or won prestigious film awards and one film that was shot locally.

The film The Story of Luke was shot in Sault Ste. Marie in the summer of 2011 and will be screened on March 3 at 9:45 a.m. at Galaxy Cinemas.

Director Alonso Mayo will return for this special debut and reunion with the city.

Another highlight of the festival will be director Kate Miles Melville who will screen her film Picture Day.

Melville will be in attendance to introduce the film and take part in a Q and A.

Saultite Steven McCarthy is in the movie.

Oscar nominated films Amour and Rebelle (War Witch) will also be screened during the festival.

Two workshops will be held during the week. 

One will focus on sports head injuries and a second on hoarding.

The opening night gala film is Robot and Frank starring Frank Langella and Susan Sarandon.

Gala tickets including the film and refreshments are $25. 

Gala tickets must be purchased in advance.

In all, 20 films will be screened during five days. 

They include: Bully, A Sister’s Call, Barbara, My Mother’s Garden, Korkoro, Searching for Sugar Man, First Position, The House I Live In, Boy, Picture Day, The Secret Disco Revolution, Smashed, Chasing Ice, Intouchables, The Imposter, and A Royal Affair.

The film festival runs from Feb 27 - March 3. 

Individual tickets are $8 per film or a package of 5 for $35. 

Tickets are available at the door but seating is limited.

All tickets will be available beginning February 14 at the Station Mall, Dennis Street Entrance.
