Great Bloomers announce new tour dates

Offer free download from latest record ‘Distant Fires’

Toronto based five-piece Great Bloomers have announced a Canadian co-headlining tour with Edmonton indie-rockers Wool on Wolves.

The tour kicks off in Hamilton, ON on November 1, 2012 and wraps up December 14, 2012 in Sarnia, ON.

Great Bloomers released their label debut album and follow-up to 2009’s critically acclaimed LP Speak Of Trouble in September on Dine Alone Records.

Titled Distant Fires, the band’s second album, a more roots driven blend of folk rock than their previous effort, has also managed to capture the attention of critics across the country.

Exclaim! Magazine has described lead vocalist Lowell Sostomi’s croon as “Bill Callahan by-way-of Tom Petty,” and went on to say that with Distant Fires, Great Bloomers make “rock’n’roll sound their own.”

Distant Fires also earned Great Bloomers a rave review from legendary Canadian songwriter Gordon Lightfoot.

Lightfoot, a noted fan of the band’s last record, commented: “This latest release by singer/songwriter/musician/arranger Lowell Sostomi is a joy to listen to. It is a very rich sounding, contemporary rock album with depth, variety, and the same heartfelt vocals which I found in Lowell's earlier work. It deserves considerable attention.”

I Wanna Die Young, the lead track off Distant Fires, has been charting in the Top 30 on CBC Radio 3 as well as in the Top 10 on Sirius XM The Verge’s Grocery List.

Fans can download The Fire Burns Strong off Distant Fires now via SoundCloud.
