Songs My Mother Taught Me featuring young artists Reilly Nelson and Leah Dominy
SAULT STE. MARIE - Vocalist Reilly Nelson and pianist Leah Dominy will be holding a concert on Friday, July 13 at the Hilton Beach Community Centre located on St. Joesph Island.
The concert will feature various opera arias in different languages and styles, Benjamin Britten folk song arrangements as well as selections from the Cole Porter Songbook.
This will be an interactive concert experience with historical context given for each piece.
Reilly Nelson (mezzo soprano) is currently working toward a Master of Music degree at the prestigious University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music under Dr. Barbara Paver.
Major performance credits include Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro and Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel both performed with the Janiec Opera Company.
Reilly has recently worked with conductors of the Houston Grand and Florida Grand operas as well as with Pierre Valet guest conductor at the Metropolitan Opera.
Leah Dominy (piano) is currently working toward her Bachelor's of Music in piano performance in the Toradze Piano Studio.
Leah's many credits include an Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music Diploma with first class honours, first prize at the IMMC Competition for Undergraduate Piano, and second prize at the Jefferson Symphony International Young Artists' Competition National Finals.
This summer she will be returning to the International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York as well as attending the Gijòn Piano Festival in Spain.
Tickets are $20 each and are available at The Bean in Sault Ste. Marie, Ambeault's Store, Hilton Harbour, and Kent's Corner located on St. Joesph Island.
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. with a reception to follow.
