Michigan Sault Historic Churches Series begins June 25

CCHS’s Historic Churches Series begins June 25

Central United Methodist Church will host the first program of the 2012 Historic Churches of Sault Ste. Marie season on Monday, June 25.

The 7 p.m. program will feature the STARS Flute Choir with special guests flutist Emily Beckman and pianist Kristin Beckman.

They will play a variety of music from baroque to jazz.

The church will be open for viewing from 6:30 to 8 p.m. that evening.

Refreshments will be provided after the performance.

Admission is free.

Donations are accepted and greatly appreciated.

Your donations fund the annual printing of the brochure.

Built in 1893, Central United Methodist Church is located at 111 East Spruce Street.

It is one of five churches to be featured this year on Monday evenings during the months of June, July, and August.

The Historic Churches program is a project of the Chippewa County Historical Society.

2012 marks the Society’s 12th year of showcasing these landmark structures that have played significant roles in the cultural history of Sault Ste. Marie.

Residents and visitors to the Sault area are invited to attend these free programs.

The schedule is available at various locations, including the five participating churches: Central United Methodist Church, First United Presbyterian Church, St. James Episcopal Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and the Salvation Army Citadel; the Chippewa County Historical Society, 115 Ashmun Street; and Bayliss Public Library, 541 Library Drive.
