Novelist, writer, artist Kurt Vonnegut died in New York City Wednesday night as a result of brain injuries sustained in a fall several weeks ago.

He was 84 years old.

Known for his biting observations of the human condition veiled in satire, dark humour and vivd imagination, his extensive works include such classics as Slaughterhouse-Five, Breakfast of Champions, Welcome to the Monkey House and Cat's Cradle.

And so it goes.
