COCCHIOLA, Bernardo 'Bernie'

Posted

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Bernie on Thursday April 9, 2015 at the age of 67 after a brief but hard fought battle.  He will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and the love of his life, Linda (LeClair) of 44 years.  Bernie was an adoring and proud Dad to John (Kelly), Johanna Arns (Jason), Amanda Gervais (Eric) and Lindsay Evans (B.J.) and a doting Papa to Madeline, Carson, Maximus, Maya, Maizie, Jack, Layla, Mila and Quinn.  Predeceased by his parents Giovanni and Giuseppina. Dear brother of Graziella Von Stach (Fred). Son-in-law of the late Lawrence and Ida (St-Jules) LeClair. Brother-in-law of Fred LeClair (Pat), Ted LeClair (Willa), Daniel LeClair (Hélène), Denise Bona (Rick), late Armand LeClair (Brenda), late Rene LeClair (Theresa), Roland LeClair (Gwen), late Maurice, Marcel LeClair (Kelly) and Larry LeClair. Bernie will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends from Italy, U.S.A. and Canada. Bernie lived each day to the fullest and made the most of each moment he was given. He loved the outdoors and “playing with cars”. He could often be found reading a Classic Car Trader looking for his next project or the newspaper to stay current. Never taking even one minute for granted, Bernie was always busy doing something that had purpose; going for coffee with friends, puttering around the yard tending to his gardens or fixing something. Bernie was always ready to lend a hand or an ear to any of the many friends that he held so dear. While enjoying his retirement by spending winters in Florida with the love of his life, Bernie could often be found walking around the neighbourhood or lazing by the pool greeting all who passed with his smile or a friendly wave. To know Bernie, was to love him. Friends and family are invited to gather at Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Wednesday April 15, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to celebrate the life of the wonderful man Bernie was.  Funeral mass will be held on Thursday April 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Veronica’s Church with Father Ron Ambeault officiating. Interment at Holy Sepluchre Cemetery.  If you wish, you may make a memorial donation to the charity of your choice in Bernie’s memory. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our many special friends and family for the care and compassion shown to Bernie during this journey. Bernie will be forever remembered for his love of life and vintage cars but most of all, for his deep love and devotion to his family. www.northwoodfuneral.com
