DERRER, Nancy Jane

It is with great sadness that I announce the sudden and unexpected passing of my mum, Nancy Jane Derrer on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Sault Area Hospital. Nancy was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario September 20, 1935 to Louis Henry Derrer and Kathryn Rosalie Derrer (nee Barker). She was sadly predeceased by her brother Harry (1979), son Karl Derrer Fitzpatrick (2007) and husband and soulmate Pierre Rivest (2012). Survived by her daughter Moira Fitzpatrick (Richard Game), grandsons Adam and Zachary Mersereau, all of Calgary, AB, nephew Louis Derrer (Sheilah Edgar) and niece Lisa Derrer (David Reed) of Sault Ste. Marie. Great aunt to Charlie, Hannah and Graham Derrer. Her life was filled with accomplishments, learning and giving back to others. She was passionate about special education, genealogy and literacy. She was so happy to have come "home" to the Soo last year. The CBC lost its best listener and supporter. Her mind never failed her. A celebration of life will be held in the spring. I would like to thank the paramedics, Drs. Smith and Ghosh, and the staff in emergency and ICU for their dedication to their professions as demonstrated by the great care they gave my mum. A very special thank you to Franca Iachetta, who was so compassionate and helped "slow everything down" that was coming at me.
