Loving grandmother of Cheryl Hernden (Gardiner), Sean Gardiner, Melanie Daignault (Taraschuk) of Ottawa, Chris Taraschuk, Tyler Taraschuk, Douglas Bloye, Justin and Nathan Briglio, Adrian and Jordan Marceau of Toronto, and Nicholas and Ryan Morin. Proud great grandmother of Madison Daignault of Ottawa, and Emily and Ben Taraschuk. Daughter of the late Louis Gardiner and Azilda Herbert. Loving sister of  Edward Gardiner, the late Rose, Delia, Lloyd and William Gardiner. A big thank you goes out to the nursing staff on Birch Wood 1 and Cedar Grove 1 for their care and compassion over the years and in her final days at the F. J. Davey  Nursing Home. A special thank you to Penny for the love she gave to our Mother. A private family service will be held, followed by interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Evelyn had a heart of gold and sacrificed much for her children and grandchildren. She lived a hard life and the loss of 5 of her children took its toll, but her strength did not waiver. She was the rock that held our family together. Evelyn spent many years as a caretaker at Korah Collegiate High School until her retirement. While living in her own home she loved to tend to her gardens and care for her grandchildren. Mom enjoyed listening to music and cooking for her family. You could always count on her offering you food when you walked through the door. She was a loving grandmother and great grandmother whose life was lit up whenever she spent time with them and this was evident by the smile that came to her face in her final hours when Emily and Ben visited her bedside. We are comforted knowing she is now in the arms of her children that went before her and our Lord Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers, donations to ARCH would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 215 St. James St, 705-759-8456. Condolences available on-line at www.osullivanfuneralhome.com .
