(1928-2014) - Peacefully with his loving family at his side in the serene surroundings at ARCH passed away on July 17, 2014 in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Sylvia (nee Hannula) for 64 years. Devoted father to Mark (Karen), Marty (Shelley Howard), Karen Kettles (David). Loving grandfather to Ryan (Melissa), Sarah McKinlay (Brian), Marley Howard Cady (Chris), Darion Howard Cady, Matthew and Breanna Kettles. Proud great-grandfather to Tyler and Luke, Benjamin and Sadie McKinlay. Pre-deceased by his parents Charles and Madonna Cady and siblings, Clare and Clara, half-siblings Robert, Eugene, Clyde, Frank, Lou, Jack, Myrtle, Donna. Survived by half-sister Nellie Lewis. Bill will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Born in Cut River and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Bill joined the Navy at the age of 17. He sailed the Great Lakes for a number of years before moving to Canada to start a family in 1949. The family would like to thank the staff of the Finnish Resthome - Kotitalo for their exceptional care and compassion. We would also like to express our sincerest gratitude to the staff of the Algoma Residential Community Hospice and to Dr. Adrianna Schamp for the wonderful care provided to Bill and the kindness shown to our family in his final days.
