RAUSCH, Anneliese Margarete

Posted

Peacefully, in her 90th year, with family by her side, Anneliese set out on that last, perfect, endless ski trail. Liebe Mutti to Sylvia Nott (Mark) and Andre Rausch of The Sault and Helga Grodzinski (John) of Kingston. Cherished "Omi" to grandchildren Stephanie and Kevin Nott, Sylvia, Karl and Natasha Grodzinski; Avery and Hannah Rausch; and great-grandchildren Kevin and Ryleigh Nott. Beloved big sister to Marianne Voelkel (Adolf) and Hannelore Mitschke (Herbert) in Germany. Pre-deceased by parents Alfred and Margarethe Pietsch, and infant son Armin. Special Tante to numerous nieces and nephews. Anneliese held fond memories of her German homeland, but having chosen Canada in 1951, considered herself above all a Canadian, right down to her impeccable Hockey-Mom credentials, and she was always fiercely proud of The Soo. Bravely rising to the challenge of raising three young children as a single parent at a time when this was rare, she worked tirelessly to build a stable and happy family. We were rich in love, if not in the latest fashions. She trained herself to become employable, and worked for years at Mannesmann Tube and Algoma Steel. She enjoyed an active retirement, full of music, travel, fitness and, most importantly, family.
