Posted

A loss so great as to be unimaginable, has struck the Ryan family.

After a long series of illnesses and miraculous recoveries, Joseph Patrick Ryan died in his 69th year on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the F. J. Davey Home.  The son of the late Alfred and Lucy was known throughout his life as Paddy or Pat.  With wife Frances, his ‘girl next door’, he was blessed with two children.  David and Trish, along with their spouses Lainie Taylor and Slaven Rakic, and grandchildren Molly, Matthew, Emily, Daniel and Nathan, will travel from Ottawa and Toronto for a celebration of Papa’s life.    Paddy is the brother of Richard Ryan (deceased), Frank Ryan and Veronica Rousselle, and brother-in-law of their spouses Mary, Laurie and Bob.  His brother-in-law Al Kelly will miss him greatly and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and their children will remember him fondly. He is the son-in-law of the late Bert and Margaret Kelly and brother-in-law of the late Christine and Arnold Damsted.   An avid dart player for many years, Pat became a devotee of golf following his retirement from Canada Post.  He proudly provided 34 years of dedicated service mostly in Brookfield and Neff’s Hill area.   Visitation will take place on Monday, November 23rd at Holy Family Church, 208 Prentice Avenue from 1:00 to 1:45 with funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Father Boguslaw Jaroszek officiating. Our family is grateful for God’s gifts, miracles and mercies.  We are extremely thankful to: Father Jaroszek for his many visits and Sacraments; to Dr.  Berry, Dr. Shafiee, and the renal unit staff; also to Elaine Angelic and those hospital staff who contributed positively to Pat’s care.  To the Davey Home staff and especially to the Driftwood 3 staff – Director, RPNs, PSWs, dining room, housekeeping and activities staff, you have our gratitude for your endless care, kindness, compassion and support for Pat and our family.  Floral remembrances are gratefully declined.  Should you wish, donations made directly to any charity where the need is great, would be preferred. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 215 St. James St, 705-759-8456.
