GRATTON, Angela Marie Joanne

Posted

Angela slipped away quietly surrounded by love at the Blind River District Health Centre at 4 PM on November 12, 2015 after bravely enduring ovarian cancer. She was 42. Daughter of Marguerite Gratton and Allan Gratton (late 1990). Cherished little sister of James Gratton and Norm Gratton. Proud aunt of Aaron Roy and Brooks Gratton. Remembered by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

In 1990, Angela was diagnosed with Cardio-Pulmonary Hypertension and received a heart double-lung transplant on March 21, 1997. She overcame cancer that same year. Grateful for the extra years that had been gifted to her, Angela’s strong faith in God and zest for life inspired all. Her acceptance of fate without anger earned her a special place of affection in the hearts of many who came to know her.

Every spring, Angela looked forward to planting and caring for her flowers and garden. She greeted everyone with a smile and enjoyed her walks from home to town during the summer months. For several years, Angela was a volunteer teacher’s aide at St. Joseph’s primary School, Blind River.  Angela’s two cats were very dear to her.  We will all miss her very much.

A funeral mass commemorating Angela’s life will be celebrated at St. James the Greater Parish, Blind River at 11 AM on Saturday, November 21, 2015, followed by her ashes interred at Hillside Cemetery (East). A small luncheon will be served afterwards in the St. James the Greater basement.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Canadian Transplant Society (www.cantransplant.ca) or Ovarian Cancer Canada (www.ovariancanada.org).
