New board, new GM for Soo Eagles

Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League finalized their new Board of Directors at a meeting this week and also selected a new general manager.

The Board consists of seven members, all local people.
They are Judd Howson (President) James Lambros (Vice President) Shirley Farnquist (Secretary) Michael Lynn (Treasurer) as well as Bob Eagle, Dyke Justin and Ken Murphy

"The most exciting news is the appointment of John Raffaele as the GM," said Howson. "John brings us instant creditibility in the sense is he is a Soo, Michigan native and has had a very successful career in the business world."

Howson added that "the Eagles are a strong, viable organization with a wonderful bunch of volunteers. We look forward to continue bringing an exciting brand of junior hockey to the twin Soos that our fans can be proud of. We are in it for the long haul."

Paul Theriault remains at the helm of the coaching staff for the second-year Eagles franchise with Dennis Bolton continuing as the top assistant.

The Eagles enter play this weekend with 21 points, which is good for second place in the NOJHL's West Division, just two points back of the pacesetting Soo Thunderbirds.

The Eagles hold two games in hand on the Thunderbirds.
Next home game for the Eagles is Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Pullar Stadium when the Sudbury Jr. Wolves visit the Soo.
