Subject: Pending Ward 3 Vacancy

Dear Mr. Mayor and Councillors,

Please accept this letter as a formal indication of my intent to let my name stand should appointment be the route chosen by council to fill the pending vacant seat for Ward 3.

As you are aware I achieved 2,008 votes in the last municipal election to finish within 200 votes of first place and in excess of 700 votes ahead of my nearest competitor in Ward 3.

As well, in comparison to all municipal candidates not elected to council, I received more votes than anybody with the exception of a candidate in each of Wards I and 3, that had only 4 and 3 candidates running respectively.

Based on these statistics alone, I believe this warrants consideration for my appointment to council.

I am currently employed as a Financial Analyst within the Budgeting and Planning Department of the Lottery Division at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.

My major responsibilities include budgeting, planning, forecasting, business plan development and operational analysis.

I am also pursuing my designation as a Certified General Accountant with four courses remaining until completion.

Prior to my 3 years at OLGC, I spent 10 years as Coordinator of Financial Services for the Northern Ontario Region of the Ontario March of Dimes.

As a member of the management team, my focus was on the financial management of several miscellaneous funded programs offered to the physically disabled community.

This included budget completion, presentation, analysis and claims management of programs funded by M.C.S.S., Long Term Care, Human Resources Development Canada, and the United Way.

As well, significant emphasis was placed on the development of proprietary business.

Prior to employment at the Ontario March of Dimes, I was a private business owner within the Cambrian Mall for four years after being in computer sales and marketing for three years.

Highlights of my qualifications are as follows:

- 15 years direct financial and management accounting experience - Substantial sales and marketing knowledge - Extensive Business Administration background - Excellent management background (private sector and not for profit) - Extensive computer background - Outstanding interpersonal/communication/presentation skills - 10 years experience in the social services sector - Significant experience in dealing with committees and boards - Four courses remaining until completion of CGA - Ten years direct budget preparation/forecasting/training

I am dedicated to my community as demonstrated by campaigning for city council in the last municipal election as well as by co-chairing the provincial division of the United Way campaign in 2000 and finally by chairing the 2001 city wide United Way campaign.

I look forward to the opportunity to further represent and set an example to my community by being an active participant and partner on city council.

I thank you for your consideration. ***************************************************************************
